MICROBLADING in Newcastle upon Tyne

Microblading is a semi-permanent makeup technique in which pigment is manually implanted (not with machine) into the skin using a disposable sterile hand tool. The blade itself is actually made of tiny individual needles that allow for crisp natural looking strokes that give the appearance of real hairs. This method is ideal for anyone who wants to enhance their brows and be able to wake up without having to fill them in.

Microblading is done in 2 steps, usually 4-6 weeks apart to allow adequate healing in between. Both steps are very important and need to be carried out in order to achieve the final desired look.

Step 1-

The initial appointment will include a detailed consultation to give you all the information you need about the procedure and discuss your desired brows. We will then carefully map out your new brow shape as well as choose the perfect colour for you, once you are satisfied the treatment will be carried out. You will then be given detailed aftercare to get the best out of your brows.

Step 2-

You will revisit for a touch up usually 4-6 weeks after your initial appointment to finish off the brows. Your skin will try to reject the pigment at first and will fade up to 30-50% which is totally normal, they can often appear patchy and unfinished which is why we need this second appointment in order to finish them.

Is it painful?

Everyone has a different pain threshold, some might say they feel nothing whereas others say it feels like scratches or plucking of the hair. It does depend on your own skin sensitivity but precautions will be carried out to make it as painless as possible.

How long will it last?

This is a semi-permanent treatment so the pigment is not placed as deeply into the skin as traditional tattoo meaning it will fade over time. All skin is different so we can not specify an exact time frame and how you look after your brows will also determine how long they last. Microblading typically lasts between 1-3 years when the correct aftercare is implemented and will require top ups usually every 12-18 months. However If you decide to let your brows fade please be aware a light shadow may remain as we have still implanted pigment into the skin.

Why can’t you use normal tattoo ink to make them last longer?

Although you may love your brows initially, many things can change over time. Fashions change and you may wish for a completely different shape as well as natural changes to the skin and face meaning over time your brows may need to be altered. Traditional tattoo ink does actually fade as well but usually to more blue or green hues which would not be flattering on the face.

How long does it take?

Your initial appointment will take about 2-3 hours as we have to go through a detailed consultation, create your desired brows and then go through aftercare. Your second appointment will take about 1- 2 hours depending on how your skin heals and how much reworking needs to be done. How long does it take to heal?Everyone is different but it usually takes between 7-14 days for the brows to heal and a full month for the colour to come back through. After this stage you will revisit for a touch up of the brows to darken any areas that need it as well as add any additional hair strokes.
